The conclave's primary focus is to address issues unique to the South Asian context, encompassing process design, optimization, operations, and project management for both greenfield and brownfield initiatives. It will also delve into analytical methods and the challenges surrounding troubleshooting in distillation processes.This conference is crucial because distillation is recognized as the most prevalent industrial separation technology utilized across a multitude of manufacturing sectors. Notably, distillation units account for a substantial portion of energy consumption, with estimates suggesting they use about 50% of total heating energy within process industries. Though distillation is considered a mature technology, the demands of the 21st century necessitate advancements in reducing capital costs, minimizing energy usage, enhancing operational efficiency, and decreasing maintenance expenses. With the growing energy and material requirements stemming from an aspirational South Asian populace, there is also an increasing imperative to lower the environmental impact of manufacturing processes. The event will facilitate discussions on developments such as the transition to ethanol-blended fuels and the integration of refining with petrochemicals, alongside the implementation of stricter waste disposal regulations in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
