Le Meridien New Delhi, New Delhi, Delhi
The India Rail event, held annually at Le Meridien New Delhi, showcases the ambitious plans under the India Rail Vision 2047 aimed at modernizing the Indian Railways. This vision includes the construction of 7,000 km of dedicated high-speed passenger corridors, the introduction of next-generation trains such as the Vande Bharat 4.0, and the enhancement of passenger amenities and signalling systems. As part of the broader 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) initiative, the plan outlines significant investments totaling INR 2,52,200 crore for the financial year 2025-26, with a notable 10% increase in capital expenditure proposed in the current budget. Notably, over 56% of the budget has already been utilized towards the modernization efforts, reflecting a strong commitment to upgrading the railway infrastructure. The event will also address the critical need for capacity expansion as 57% of the rail network is expected to exceed 150% capacity by 2051. To tackle network congestion, the government has initiated ambitious projects under the National Rail Plan (NRP), aiming to augment the rail network by an additional 75,194 route kilometers at an estimated cost of INR 6 lakh crore. With approximately 98.83% of the broad-gauge network electrified, Indian Railways operates about 18,000 trains daily, including 8,000 freight trains, emphasizing the urgent need for improved average speeds and enhanced transit reliability. The integration of advanced technologies such as automatic block signaling (ABS) and the Kavach train protection system is crucial for developing a high-performing railway network. Additionally, urban transport initiatives are gaining momentum with 990 km of metro rail operations and 900 km under construction. Join us at India Rail to explore investment opportunities in high-speed rail corridors, advancements in metropolitan cities, and light rail transit solutions for Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, as we collectively shape the future of Indian rail transport.
